Gráinne (pronounced Grawn-ya) is a dark and intense single-origin roast from Columbia. Winner of a 2021 Gold Blas na hEireann (The Irish Food Awards), this is one of our latest roasts to warm you up with tastes of rich chocolate and caramel, finishing with a hint of cooked blackcurrant.
It comes from a small farm in the Narino region of South West Colombia. If you like a dark roast, this is as far as we dare go.
Gráinne (meaning grain, love and sun) is one of the central figures in the Middle Irish text Finn and Gráinne and, most famously, in the 17th-century tale The Pursuit of Diarmuid and Gráinne, which tells of her betrothal to Fionn mac Cumhaill, leader of the Fianna, and her subsequent elopement with Fionn's warrior Diarmuid Ua Duibhne.
