Dairinn (pronounced dir-inn or dawr-inn), is our latest full bodied espresso blend. It has a classic underlying rich chocolate note with a hint of smokiness and a light hazelnut aroma as it cools. It's a great coffee for any espresso-based drink but don't take our word for it. Dairinn is through to the finals of the 2025 Irish Food Awards with the winner being announced in early October.
Named after the daughter of Finn McCool and derived from the old Gaelic word Doireann ('daro') meaning "oak tree" or "oak grove". The name suggests strength and fruitfulness. As the name spread across Celtic-speaking regions, it took on various spellings and forms, such as Dáiríne in Old Irish, Dairine in Middle Irish, and Dairín in Scottish Gaelic. The name was initially associated with the reverence for nature and the sacred oak in pagan Celtic traditions.
